This frozen Sarawak Laksa Paste (as seen on this pic on ur left) has been living/staying inside our fridge for quite sometimes now. My aunt M went to Tawau few months back and Uncle J has given her this laksa paste as an ole-ole (i guess) but since aunt M knows that hubs can cook laksa sarawak quite well (she has tasted it before), so she gave this laksa paste to my mom.. Has been asking my chef a.k.a hubby to cook this laksa for a while now but due to his busy work schedule, feels tired, etc....trus kena lupa suda this laksa paste inside the fridge..But was so happy indeed when last Sunday he finally have the time & mood (i guess) to prepare this (so called rare-to-do) meal as for our lunch...*yippie*....Why i say this (rare-to-do)..cuz the main ingredient for this recipe which is the s'wak laksa paste could only be found/bought in Sarawak (kalau ada di KK, kasitau sia ah...). So while he was busy preparing this laksa, i went inside the kitchen...err..not to help but busy taking pictures for my blog... ..biasa la paparazzi kan... Managed to snap few pics (thanks to hubs for his full cooperation )....and just wanted to share with you on the recipe (in case you might interested to try)...here are the steps/ways to prepare a true taste of homemade "Laksa Sarawak".... The ingredients:-
(5 servings from Flavours):
300 grams laksa paste 250 to 300 ml thick coconut milk (frm one coconut) 1 packet of bee hoon Bean sprouts (pandai2x la mo estimate) 100 grams chicken breast fillet, boiled and shredded 4-5 boiled eggs, halved 2 stalks coriander (daun sup), chopped 4-5 limau kasturi, halved
1) For the gravy, boil the laksa paste for at least 15 minutes. 2) Strain into a pot. 3) Add the coconut milk and stir until well mixed. Season to taste with salt and sugar. 4) Soak the dried bee hoon to soften and blanch with hot water. 5) Place noodles in a bowl and add the toppings (beansprouts, shredded chicken & boiled eggs). 6) Ladle hot laksa gravy over. 7) Garnish with coriander (daun sup), limau kasturi and the laksa gravy.
Walaaaa...the Laksa Sarawak is now ready to be served....and here how's the homemade Laksa Sarawak looks like... Laksa Sarawak with the topping & garnish
